Day 2
Day 2 began with a Baguette from Au Pave Du Roy boulangere patisserie, one of the best local patisseries. Alexi and I were then in search of another coffee, and we came across Hat’s patisserie, a larger French chain, but with great food. The coffee was once again not the best, but we also indulged in an amazing raspberry tart. Our class was separated into two groups, Group A and Group B. Group A went to Marsellie, while my group, Group B, was free to do as they pleased. I met up with some of my other group members, and we explored the town of Aix. We began by going to Picard, a grocery store with only frozen food, similar to Trader Joe's ready-to-eat frozen meals. I purchased some microwaveable frozen meals to eat in the hotel room for lunch or dinner. We then walked back to the hotel, and on the way stopped in a cat book store, with 7 cats that live in the store and roam around as you shop, which was very cute. The rest of my group members also made purchases at Picard, so we all split up momentarily to make food for a potluck. We all met up after we were done making our food and ate in the courtyard of our hotel. After good food, wine, and conversation, I went on a walk into the outskirts of the city and saw the beautiful countryside of France, far from the tall buildings. After, I met some of the guys for dinner in Place Richelme, a square with restaurants and a hotspot for dinner. Here we ate while listening to great live music from street performers before going to bed.
